What Your Browser Keeps

Cookie notices often hide a long list of trackers behind a friendly button. Ours does not, because there is nothing behind it. This page explains exactly what your browser keeps when you visit Documentaries & Lectures and how you can remove it.

The one thing we store

When the notice appears and you choose an option, the site saves that choice in your browser's local storage. Local storage is a small area your browser sets aside for each website. The entry records only which button you pressed, so the notice stays out of your way as you move between pages.

  • It is created only after you make a choice.
  • It stays on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else.
  • It contains no name, email address or identifier.
  • It remains until you clear it yourself.

What we do not use

The site sets no tracking cookies, no advertising cookies and no analytics cookies. We do not load third-party scripts that follow you across the web, and we do not use fingerprinting or similar techniques. Whether you accept or decline in the notice, the pages work in exactly the same way, because there is nothing to switch on or off beyond remembering your answer.

Seeing the entry for yourself

Most desktop browsers let you inspect what a site has stored. In many of them you can open the developer tools, look for a section called Application or Storage, and choose Local Storage for this site. You will find a single short entry. Nothing else should be there.

Clearing it

To remove the stored choice, use your browser's option for clearing site data or cookies, either for all websites or just for this one. The notice will then reappear on your next visit, and you can choose again. Private or incognito windows usually discard local storage when they close, so the notice may show up each time you browse that way.

Technical logs

Separate from your browser, the servers that deliver our pages keep routine technical logs. Those are not cookies and are not stored on your device. They are covered on our Privacy & Data page.
